On the cusp of the Second World War, England devised a plan to evacuate its children from cities expected to be bombed. These children were sent to smaller communities to wait until it was safe to return.

After an agonizing decision, little Maggie was sent by her mother Viv to the affluent Thompson family who lived in a countryside estate.

This childless couple had always wanted a daughter and Maggie fit the bill. She was given all the advantages that her mother could never afford.

However, this safe haven was lost when bombing flattened the estate. No remains were found and it was concluded that all inhabitants of the house were killed.

It was years later when Viv learned some secrets about this family and set our to find her lost daughter.

It’s an interesting novel combining a bit of history with a fictional story.
