This spring, residents across Ontario and all of Canada have been coming together to help raise awareness for Alzheimer\u2019s disease through the Walk for Alzheimer\u2019s event.<\/p>\n

Walk for Memories and Memory Walks have been taking place across the country since May and will continue through June, and again in January 2016.<\/p>\n

For the past 24 years, these walks have become the Alzheimer Society\u2019s biggest annual event, taking place in 150 cities across Canada to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer\u2019s disease and other dementias. The funds also go to help run local programs and services, and connects people with the disease with others in their communities.<\/p>\n

In 2014, 24,000 walkers participated, raising $4.5 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cWalk for Alzheimer\u2019s is about your community, your commitment and your part in the movement to change the course of this disease,\u201d says Mimi Lowi-Young, CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Canada, in a release. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to be the largest community-based fundraiser for Alzheimer\u2019s disease in Canada. These events thrive off of the passion of individuals who give generously of their time and donations to ensure hope and help is available for those in need.\u201d<\/p>\n
