A ski coach who coordinates a free skiing program for children with disabilities and special needs.
\nA dedicated volunteer who still remains active in her community at the age of 95.
\nA carpenter and contractor who volunteered his skills in order to make his retirement community a better place to live.
\nThese three individuals, along with 13 others, are among a group of seniors who have been recognized by the province with the Senior Achievement Award recognizing their contributions to their communities and to the province.
\nThe Senior Achievement Award is the highest provincial honour for people aged 65 and older and is presented each year by the Lieutenant Governor. The awards have been given out to remarkable seniors since 1986.
\n\u201cI\u2019m honoured to present the 2018 Senior Achievement Awards to these 16 incredible seniors,\u201d says Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know I speak on behalf of all Ontarians when I express my admiration for their accomplishments and thank them for their hard work. Their commitment to serving their communities is inspiring.\u201d
\nAccording to the province, the number of seniors living in Ontario is expected to increase to more than 25 per cent of the total population within the next 25 years.
