Earlier this year, Lakeridge Health announced the arrival of a new, technologically-advanced robot that prepares injectable cancer treatments. The new robot is part of a transformation of cancer pharmacy services available at the cancer centre. Lakeridge Health is now home to one of only five Robotic Intravenous Automation (RIVA) systems in Canada. The new RIVA robot is part of a major renewal of the cancer centre\u2019s pharmacy, which includes an upgraded retail pharmacy space, new consultation kiosks and other enhancements to ensure the safest, and most sterile, environment is available to prepare chemotherapy treatments for patients.<\/p>\n

Twelve years ago, the Lakeridge Health Foundation saw overwhelming support from the Durham Region community and beyond to help build the cancer centre. Thanks to donor support, the foundation hopes to bring new technology, like RIVA, to departments throughout Lakeridge Health that support cancer care.<\/p>\n
