On October 6, approximately 85,000 Canadians laced up their shoes to take part in the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure, raising $17 million to support the breast cancer cause.<\/p>\n
Funds raised through the event help the Canadian Cancer Society continue its breast cancer research, as well as its support system that helps people better manage life with cancer, provides community and connection, and builds wellness and resilience throughout the cancer journey.<\/p>\n
These programs, such as the national toll-free helpline and peer support, help people with breast cancer live their lives as fully as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cToday was another incredible day for thousands of Canadians as we came together with shared purpose to imagine a future without breast cancer,\u201d said Christina Kramer, CIBC\u2019s senior executive vice-president and executive run sponsor, CIBC in a recent press release.
\nSince the run began in 1992, the event has raised $462 million for the breast cancer cause, stated Andrea Seale, CEO, CCS, in the release.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s because of the funds Canadians raise through the CIBC Run for the Cure that we know more than ever how to prevent, diagnose, treat and live with and beyond breast cancer, and have been able to help reduce the mortality rate by almost half since it peaked in 1986,\u201d Seale said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
