More money is going to be coming the Alzheimer Society\u2019s way, thanks to the provincial government.<\/p>\n
The province will be pumping $761,500 to go toward the society\u2019s Finding Your Way program, with the money going to improve training and reach more people who come into contact with persons affected by dementia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese improvements to the Finding Your Way program will help reach more people and provide important information to protect those with dementia,\u201d states Mario Sergio, the provincial minister responsible for seniors affairs, in a news release.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur communities have an important role to play in helping keep people with dementia safe, and this funding will help the Alzheimer Society of Ontario to deliver these resources to even more Ontarians.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Finding Your Way program is a safety campaign that helps people with dementia stay safe and active, while helping to prevent the risk of wandering and going missing. For 2016, the program\u2019s training services will be enhanced to include first-responders, as well as supportive housing and retirement homes staff.<\/p>\n
The funding will also help the Alzheimer Society of Ontario launch an enhanced website, deliver new e-learning seminars and town halls, increase volunteer recruitment activities on campuses and in the private sector, and distribute 20,000 new brochures.<\/p>\n
